Severe congenital neutropenia (SCN) is characterized by profound neutropenia, recurrent severe bacterial infections and maturation arrest in the myeloid lineage. Granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) treatment results in clinical improvement in over 90% of cases.
