The susceptible-infected (SI) model is the most basic of all compartmental models used to describe the spreading of information through a population. Despite its apparent simplicity, the analytic solution of this model on networks is still lacking. We address this problem here using a novel formulation inspired by the mathematical treatment of many-body quantum systems. This allows us to organize the time-dependent expectation values for the state of individual nodes in terms of contributions…

It is shown how the exact transition rate matrix for the susceptible-infected (si) model can be used to find analytic solutions for si outbreaks on trees and the cycle graph for finite N .
COVID-19 Superspreading Suggests Mitigation by Social Network Modulation.
- BiologyPhysical review letters

Using a mathematical model, it is shown that superspreading drastically enhances mitigations which reduce the overall personal contact number and that social clustering increases this effect.

Inefficiency of SIR models in forecasting COVID-19 epidemic: a case study of Isfahan
- MedicineScientific reports
- 2021
Despite the prediction of disease course in short-term intervals, the constructed SIR model was unable to forecast the actual spread and pattern of epidemic in the long term, and most of the published SIR models developed to predict COVID-19 for other communities, suffered from the same inconformity.
Near-exact explicit asymptotic solution of the SIR model well above the epidemic threshold
- MathematicsmedRxiv
- 2021
An analytical estimate of the time separating the first inflexion point of the epidemic curve from the peak of infections is given and the proposed formula yields good qualitative agreement already and rapidly becomes quantitatively accurate as larger values of $ro$ are assumed.

Predicting the Speed of Epidemics Spreading in Networks
- Computer SciencePhysical review letters
- 2020
This work uses a message-passing approach to derive simple and effective predictions that are validated against epidemic simulations on a variety of real-world networks with good agreement, and finds an overall sudden transition from low density to almost full network saturation as the contagion progresses in time.
SI epidemic model applied to COVID-19 data in mainland China
- MathematicsRoyal Society Open Science

The present methodology provides a way to compute the parameters at the early stage of the epidemic through an exponential fit to the early cumulative data of SARS-CoV2 in mainland China and an identifiability result is established.
