This paper is concerned with the re-imag(in)ing of the action figure in contemporary Hollywood cinema, employing The Matrix as a case study into hardwired hardbodies. I argue that the modern action body appropriates the design and capabilities of external technologies, such as the mobile phone, that have made mobility and the rapid transmission of information the definitive attributes for survival.
