To clarify the involvement of cortisol in functional differentiation of branchial chloride cells, cellular gene expression and localization of cortisol receptor were examined in chum salmon (Oncorhynchus keta) fry in freshwater (FW) and those adapted to seawater (SW) by in situ hybridization and immunocytochemical staining.
