The synthesis of the erythroid lipoxygenase, an enzyme which is of importance for the degradation of mitochondria during the maturation of reticulocytes to erythrocytes, was studied in reticulocytes from bone marrow and in density-separated fractions from peripheral blood of anemic rabbits.
