Although our antifungal armamentarium has been enlarged recently with new azoles (voriconazole and posaconazole) and echinocandins (caspofungin, micafungin, anidulafungin), the polyenes still have an important role in antifungal strategies because of their extended antifungal spectrum and rarity of mycological resistance.
