We present the fabrication of lipid nanoscaffolds inside carbon nanotube arrays by employing the nanostructural self-assembly of lipid molecules. The nanoscaffolds are finely tunable into model biomembrane-like architectures (planar), soft nanochannels (cylindrical) or 3-dimensionally ordered continuous bilayer structures (cubic). Carbon nanotube arrays hosting the above nanoscaffolds are formed by packing of highly oriented multiwalled carbon nanotubes which facilitate the alignment of lipid…
Carbon nanotubes for stabilization of nanostructured lipid particles.
TLDR
This work reports a novel application of CNTs for stabilization of internally self-assembled nanostructured lipid particles of 2-5 μm size which paves the way for future development of combination therapies employing both C NTs and nanostructureured lipid self-assembly together as carriers of different drugs.

Supramolecular Self-Assembly of Lipid Derivatives on Carbon Nanotubes
TLDR
Self-assemblies were obtained from mixed micelles of SDS and different water-insoluble double-chain lipids after dialysis of the surfactant and could be further exploited for the development of new biosensors and bioelectronic nanomaterials.

TLDR
There is compelling evidence that the binding of lipid surfactants to cylindrical nanostructures in the liquid phase does not obey any of the three popular models in the literature.
Applications of carbon nanotubes in the twenty–first century
TLDR
It is predicted that carbon nanotubes will find numerous applications and take an important place in the development of emerging technologies in the near future.
Controlling the translocation of proteins through nanopores with bioinspired fluid walls
TLDR
It is shown that coating nanopores with fluid bilayer lipids allows the pore diameters to be fine-tuned in sub-nanometre increments, and incorporation of mobile ligands in the lipid conferred specificity and slowed down the translocation of targeted proteins sufficiently to time-resolve translocation events of individual proteins.
Carbon nanotube self-assembly with lipids and detergent: a molecular dynamics study.
TLDR
Differences in adsorption mechanism of bilayer-forming lipids and detergents on CNTs are highlighted which may in the future be exploitable to enable enhancement of CNT solubilization whilst minimizing perturbation of cell membrane integrity.
Coating single-walled carbon nanotubes with phospholipids.
TLDR
It is demonstrated that lysophospholipids, or single-chained phospholipid, offer unprecedented solubility for SWNTs, while double-chaining phospholIPids are ineffective in rendering SW NTs soluble.
