Studies bearing on the lipids of tumors have been made in most cases either with regard to the changes of the lipid content of the blood of tumor animals and patients or the relation between the lipids and the growth of the tumors. Of the lipids, cholesterol has been most frequently studied. Roffo (1) reported that cholesterol is concerned with the development of experimental tumors and that an increase of cholesterol in blood plasma characterizes the so-called precancerous stage.
