It is shown that linearity of convex mean residual life identi3es the distribution up to a scale in the class of distributions with zero mean. On this basis new characterizations of the uniform and, unexpectedly, the Student distribution with two degrees of freedom are obtained. It is observed that, strictly speaking, the conjecture of Nagaraja and Nevzerov about uniqueness property of the convex mean residual life time is incorrect.
