In vivo relative corneal transmittance was estimated using Tan's [(1971) Vision in the ultraviolet, thesis, University of Utrecht, The Netherlands] data on scotopic spectral sensitivity in aphakic eyes. This was combined with in vitro corneal transmittance data and in vivo light scattering data to arrive at absolute data.
