The intertidal, sibling species Littorina scutulata and L. plena (Gastropoda, Prosobranchia) are sympatric throughout most of their ranges along the Pacific coast of North America. Both species release disc-shaped, planktonic egg capsules from which planktotrophic veliger larvae hatch.
