Eurhinus magnificus Gyllenhal has been collected in south Florida, presumably introduced through trade with countries in its native range. Very little information has been published on the biology or taxonomy of this insect. We conducted studies to investigate various aspects of its life history and host plant associations. The pre-imaginal life stages of E. magnificus are described for the first time. Dimensions of the adult, egg, larval, and pupal stages are also provided; head capsule…

Curculio Curculis lupus: biology, behavior and morphology of immatures of the cannibal weevil Anchylorhynchus eriospathae G. G. Bondar, 1943
TLDR
The second case of a weevil with early-instar larvae adapted to killing conspecifics is described, and it is shown that adult size is highly dependent on timing of oviposition.
Determining the instar of a weevil larva (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) using a parsimonious method
TLDR
A model is developed that computes, for a given species, the most probable instar of a larva based on its individual head capsule width and the size distribution of the last larval instar, and can be readily used thanks to the R package CINID that is developed for that purpose.
Weevil, Eurhinus magnificus Gyllenhal (Insecta: Coleoptera: Curculionidae)
TLDR
EENY-417, a 6-page illustrated fact sheet, describes this brilliantly colored imported potential grape pest that has been found in Broward and Miami-Dade counties, its synonymy, distribution, description, biology, host plants and damage, and management.
Insect Galls of Costa Rica and Their Parasitoids
TLDR
An independent inventory of Entedonini (Eulophidae) and the resulting taxonomic monographs allow for a more detailed analysis of this group, which shows that while the vast majority of Chrysonotomyia and Omphale species are probably associated with galls, very few have been reared: only 27 of 97 species, and 10 of 129 species, respectively.
The rectal valve in Curculionoidea (Insecta: Coleoptera).
TLDR
Within the Curculionoidea different apomorphic forms suggest monophyly of groups within the Anthribidae and Dryophthoridae, and within the curculionid subfamilies Entiminee, Mesoptiliinae, Molytinae and Cossoninae + Scolytinaes, although limited weight should be placed on a single character.
Neotropical Insect Galls
TLDR
Galls of the temperate forest of southern South America: Argentina and Chile Carolina Quintero and the role of inter- and intra-annual host plant phenology Marcilio Fagundes and Germano Leao Demolin Leite are studied.
Repellency of Hydroethanolic Extracts of Ricinus communis (Euphorbiaceae) to Scyphophorus acupunctatus (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) in the Laboratory
TLDR
The repellent effect of the hydroethanolic extract of the castor oil plant, Ricinus communis L. (Euphorbiaceae) wild and ‘Mirante’ cultivar on the adult's behavior is reported.
Pests of grapevine: A worldwide list
TLDR
Overall 653 pests are known to damage the crop in different grape growing regions of the world, which varies from minor effects to complete loss of crop, and in some instances the death of the vine.
