Lichen planus (LP) is an inflammatory dermatosis of the mucocutaneous surfaces that can present with a variety of clinical manifestations. The prevalence of LP is unknown, but is estimated to be 1% in the USA. 1 The frequency of LP varies on the basis of the population studied, with a particularly high rate of disease noted on the Indian subcontinent.
