In recent years, a large amount of activity has been carried out searching new materials for second order non-linear optics. Nanostructured materials composed of a host matrix and optical active nanocrystals form a new part of this research field. Our present work consists in "doping" SiO2 matrices with 5 to 30% mass of LiIO3 nanocrystals. Indeed, α-LiIO3 is a compound known to be very efficient for second harmonic generation (SHG). This nanocomposite glass has been developped using sol-gel… Expand

Organic nanocrystals grown in sol–gel matrices: a new type of hybrid material for optics
We have engineered new hybrid organic–inorganic materials through a simple and generic preparation of stable organic nanocrystals grown in gel–glass matrices. This process is based on the confinedExpand
Second harmonic generation in transparent barium borate glass-ceramics
s-BaB2O4 (BBO) has been considered to be an excellent non-linear optical material in single crystal form; however, BaO·B2O3 can also form a glass. BaO·B2O3 glass has a density of about 3.9 g/cm3, aExpand
Sol–gel preparation and characterization of transparent KTiOPO4/SiO2 nanocomposite glass for second harmonic generation
Abstract A nanocomposite glass consisting of sol–gel derived nanocrystalline KTiOPO 4 (KTP) and SiO 2 -based glass has been developed. The multicomponent glass in the K 2 O–TiO 2 –P 2 O 5 –SiO 2Expand
Dielectric, linear and non-linear optical properties of lithium borate–bismuth tungstate glasses and glass-ceramics
Glasses of various compositions in the system (1 - x) Li2B4O7 - xBi(2)WO(6) (0 less than or equal to x less than or equal to 0.35) were prepared via a melt-quenching technique. The amorphous natureExpand
Crystallization of the K2O·Nb2O5·2SiO2 glass: evidences for existence of bulk nanocrystalline structure
Abstract The crystallization of the K 2 O · Nb 2 O 5  · 2SiO 2 (KNS-50) glass has been studied by DTA, XRD, SEM and FTIR. The as-quenched glass crystallizes in two steps during a DTA run. In theExpand
