Aims. We aim, on the one hand, to study the possible differences of Li abundances between planet hosts and stars without detected planets at effective temperatures hotter than the Sun, and on the other hand, to explore the Li dip and the evolution of Li at high metallicities. Methods. We present lithium abundances for 353 main sequence stars with and without planets in the Teff range 5900–7200 K. We observed 265 stars of our sample with HARPS spectrograph during different planets search…

Figures and Tables from this paper

We present newly derived stellar parameters and the detailed abundances of 19 elements of seven stars with small planets discovered by NASA's Kepler Mission. Each star, save one, has at least one

Identifying Young Kepler Planet Host Stars from Keck–HIRES Spectra of Lithium

The lithium doublet at 6708 Å provides an age diagnostic for main sequence FGK dwarfs. We measured the abundance of lithium in 1305 stars with detected transiting planets from the Kepler mission

Chemical Abundances of Neutron-capture Elements in Exoplanet-hosting Stars

To understand the formation and composition of planetary systems it is important to study their host stars composition since both are formed in the same stellar nebula. In this work, we analyze the

Searching for Li-rich giants in a sample of 12 open clusters: Li enhancement in two stars with substellar companions

The aim of this work is to search for Li-rich giants in a sample of clusters where planets have been searched, thus we can study the planet engulfment scenario to explain Li replenishment using a

Behaviour of elements from lithium to europium in stars with and without planets

We conducted an analysis of the distribution of elements from lithium to europium in 200 dwarfs in the solar neighbourhood (˜20 pc) with temperatures in the range 4800-6200 K and metallicities [Fe/H]

High-resolution Spectroscopic Study of Dwarf Stars in the Northern Sky: Lithium, Carbon, and Oxygen Abundances

Abundances of lithium, carbon, and oxygen have been derived using spectral synthesis for a sample of 249 bright F, G, and K Northern Hemisphere dwarf stars from the high-resolution spectra acquired

Chemical abundances of 1111 FGK stars from the HARPS-GTO planet search sample

Context. Elemental abundances are of prime importance to help us reconstruct the origin and evolution of stars and galaxies in our Universe. Sulfur abundances have not been as heavily studied as

Lithium abundance patterns of late-F stars: an in-depth analysis of the lithium desert

Aims. We address the existence and origin of the lithium (Li) desert, a region in the Li–Teff plane sparsely populated by stars. Here we analyze some of the explanations that have been suggested for

Lithium in red giant stars: Constraining non-standard mixing with large surveys in the Gaia era

Context. Li is extensively known to be a good tracer of non-standard mixing processes occurring in stellar interiors. Aims. We present the results of a new large Li survey in red giant stars and

The Gaia -ESO Survey: Lithium enrichment histories of the Galactic thick and thin disc

Lithium abundance in most of the warm metal-poor main sequence stars shows a constarnt plateau (A(Li) ~ 2.2 dex) and then the upper envelope of the lithium vs. metallicity distribution increases as

Li depletion in solar analogues with exoplanets - Extending the sample

Aims. We want to study the effects of the formation of planets and planetary systems on the atmospheric Li abundance of planet host stars. Methods. In this work we present new determinations of

Chemical abundances of 1111 FGK stars from the HARPS GTO planet search program - Galactic stellar populations and planets

Context. We performed a uniform and detailed abundance analysis of 12 refractory elements (Na, Mg, Al, Si, Ca, Ti, Cr, Ni, Co, Sc, Mn, and V) for a sample of 1111 FGK dwarf stars from the HARPS GTO

A Comparative Study on Lithium Abundances in Solar-Type Stars With and Without Planets

We have investigated the abundance anomalies of lithium for stars with planets in the temperature range of 5600-5900 K reported by Israelian and coworkers, as compared to 20 normal stars in the same

This work presents a homogeneous determination of lithium abundances in a large sample of giant-planet-hosting stars (N = 117) and a control sample of disk stars without detected planets (N = 145).

Lithium abundances in nearby FGK dwarf and subgiant stars: internal destruction, Galactic chemical evolution, and exoplanets

We derive atmospheric parameters and lithium abundances for 671 stars and include our measurements in a literature compilation of 1381 dwarf and subgiant stars. First, a “lithium desert” in the

Enhanced lithium depletion in Sun-like stars with orbiting planets

Li abundances are reported for an unbiased sample of solar-analogue stars with and without detected planets to find that the planet-bearing stars have less than one per cent of the primordial Li abundance, while about 50% of the solar analogueswithout detected planets have on average ten times more Li.

Lithium depletion in solar-like stars: no planet connection

We have determined precise stellar parameters and lithium abundances in a sample of 117 stars with basic properties very similar to the Sun. This sample selection reduces biasing effects and

Parent stars of extrasolar planets – IX. Lithium abundances

We compare the Li abundances of a sample of stars with planets discovered with the Doppler method to a sample of stars without detected planets. We prepared the samples by combining the Li abundances

Spectroscopic stellar parameters for 582 FGK stars in the HARPS volume-limited sample. Revising the metallicity-planet correlation

To understand the formation and evolution of solar-type stars and planets in the solar neighborhood, we need to obtain their stellar parameters with high precision. We present a catalog of precise

The host stars of extrasolar planets have normal lithium abundances

The lithium abundances of planet-harbouring stars have been compared with those of open clusters and field stars. Young (chromospherically active) and subgiant stars have been eliminated from the
