From a scientific perspective, we are very surprised and disappointed with the publication of Dona and Arvanitoyannis (2009) in Critical Reviews in Food Science and Nutrition (49:164–175). The obvious bias against GM crops and the companies that develop this technology, as represented throughout this work, is unexpected and inappropriate for a publication in a scientific journal, as are the many unfounded assertions and inaccurate citations that pervade the text.
