Networks of coupled dynamical systems provide a powerful way to model systems with enormously complex dynamics, such as the human brain. Control of synchronization in such networked systems has far reaching applications in many domains, including engineering and medicine. In this paper, we formulate the synchronization control in dynamical systems as an optimization problem and present a multi-objective genetic programming-based approach to infer optimal control functions that drive the system…

Sparse identification of nonlinear dynamics for rapid model recovery.

The proposed abrupt-SINDy architecture provides a new paradigm for the rapid and efficient recovery of a system model after abrupt changes, and shows that sparse updates to a previously identified model perform better with less data, have lower runtime complexity, and are less sensitive to noise than identifying an entirely new model.

Symbolic regression in materials science

We showcase the potential of symbolic regression as an analytic method for use in materials research. First, we briefly describe the current state-of-the-art method, genetic programming-based

Synchronization - A Universal Concept in Nonlinear Sciences

This work discusseschronization of complex dynamics by external forces, which involves synchronization of self-sustained oscillators and their phase, and its applications in oscillatory media and complex systems.

Optimal Control Theory

Of special interest in the context of this book is the material on the duality of optimal control and probabilistic inference; such duality suggests that neural information processing in sensory and motor areas may be more similar than currently thought.

It is shown that the full set of hydromagnetic equations admit five more integrals, besides the energy integral, if dissipative processes are absent, which made it possible to formulate a variational principle for the force-free magnetic fields.
