Publisher Summary This chapter describes coastal sediments of central Georgia and their environments of deposition. The geologic history of the area is related to the late Pleistocene to recent sea level fluctuations. During the middle and late Sangamon interglacial stage of the Pleistocene, a series of barrier islands was developed along coastal Georgia.
