Laser assisted microvascular anastomosis (LAMA) was performed on rat femoral arteries anddd veins using a milliwatt CO2 laser. The histological appearance of the anastomoses was assessed immediately after the procedure and at regular intervals up to seven months. There was extensive thermal-induced transmural necrosis.
