Monitoring protocols for the evaluation of the impact of wild boar (Sus scrofa) rooting on plants and animals in forest ecosystems
TLDR
Researchers and practitioners should carefully consider the complexity of monitoring the impact of wild boar and the choice of the parameters to investigate since this study clearly shows that monitoring some biodiversity indices requires a substantial investment of sampling effort and a well-structured a priori -planning phase.
Interactions between wild boar and cattle in Patagonian temperate forest: cattle impacts are worse when alone than with wild boar
TLDR
This study believed that the free-range populations of these mammals that inhabit temperate forests of Patagonia should have focused management plans that prioritize the control of cattle, to subsequently focus on the management of the wild boar.
Wild-boar disturbance increases nutrient and C stores of geophytes in subalpine grasslands.
TLDR
Geophytes growing in rooted areas have an increased nutrient value, which may promote the revisit of wild boars to previously rooted areas, with further positive feed-back effects on plant quality, and may shape upland geophyte communities.
Occurrence and intensity of wild boar disturbances, effects on the physical and chemical soil properties of alpine grasslands
Background and aimsPhysical and chemical soil properties determine local plant conditions and resources, affecting plants’ ability to respond to disturbances. In alpine grasslands, wild boar
