We study the subgap spectrum of a 2D Abrikosov vortex in an $s$-wave superconductor in the absence and presence of a point impurity. By solving the Eilenberger equations without impurity for two models of the vortex (including a self-consistent one), we find multiple subgap spectral branches. The number of these branches may be arbitrarily large provided that the magnetic field screening length is large enough. The quasiclassical spectrum of the vortex has a local gap with a width of the order…

Coherent coupling between vortex bound states and magnetic impurities in 2D layered superconductors

- Physics, MedicineNature communications
- 2021

It is demonstrated theoretically and experimentally that, when coupled to magnetic impurities, bound states in a vortex core exhibit an emergent axial electron-hole asymmetry on a much longer scale, set by the coherence length.

Self-consistent electronic structure of a vortex line in a type-II superconductor.

The electronic structure of a vortex line in a type-II superconductor is calculated self-consistently in the framework of the Bogoliubov--de Gennes theory, and the resulting local density of states has a characteristic star shape in real space, whose orientation is energy dependent, in agreement with recent STM experiments.
