A bstractWe show that nonperturbative production of massive higher spin fields from vacuum will accompany the generation of non-vanishing macroscopic energy-momentum tensor correlators. This argument is based on the general causal field formalism, which gives a manifestly covariant description of higher spin particles without any reference to gauge redundancy. Our findings are direct consequence of the Poincaré covariance and anlayticity of the Green’s functions and independent of any detailed…

On the (A)dS decoupling limits of massive gravity

A bstractWe consider various decoupling limits of ghost-free massive gravity on (A)dS. The first is a decoupling limit on AdS space where the mass goes to zero while the AdS radius is held fixed.

Gravitational interactions of higher-spin fermions

A bstractWe investigate the cubic interactions of a massless higher-spin fermion with gravity in flat space and present covariant 2 − s − s vertices, compatible with the gauge symmetries of the

Non-Gaussianities and chiral gravitational waves in natural steep inflation

In arXiv:0908.4089, we have proposed a model where natural inflation is realized on a steep potential as a consequence of the interaction of the inflaton with gauge fields through an axion-like

Massless Fields with Integer Spin

The Fierz-Pauli Lagrangian for massive particles with arbitrary integral spin s, first obtained by Hagen and Singh, is examined in the limit of vanishing mass. Unexpectedly, a considerable

Parity violation in the Cosmic Microwave Background from a pseudoscalar inflaton

If the inflaton is a pseudoscalar, then it naturally interacts with gauge fields through the coupling ∝ Fμν μν. Through this coupling, the rolling inflaton produces quanta of the gauge field, that in

Partially massless fields during inflation

A bstractThe representation theory of de Sitter space allows for a category of partially massless particles which have no flat space analog, but could have existed during inflation. We study the

Photons and gravitons in perturbation theory: Derivation of maxwell's and einstein's equations

The S matrix for photon and graviton processes is studied in perturbation theory, under the restriction that the only creation and annihilation operators for massless particles of spin j allowed in

From Higher Spins to Strings: A Primer

A contribution to the collection of reviews "Introduction to Higher Spin Theory" edited by S. Fredenhagen, this introductory article is a pedagogical account of higher-spin fields and their

Feynman rules for any spin. II. Massless particles

The Feynman rules are derived for massless particles of arbitrary spin j. The rules are the same as those presented in an earlier article for m>0, provided that we let m → 0 in propagators and wave
