We analyze the conjectured duality between a class of double-scaling limits of a one-matrix model and the topological twist of non-critical superstring backgrounds that contain the N = 2 Kazama-Suzuki SL(2)/U(1) supercoset model. The untwisted backgrounds are holographically dual to double-scaled Little String Theories in four dimensions and to the large N double-scaling limit of certain supersymmetric gauge theories. The matrix model in question is the auxiliary Dijkgraaf-Vafa matrix model…

Borel and Stokes Nonperturbative Phenomena in Topological String Theory and c = 1 Matrix Models

We address the nonperturbative structure of topological strings and c = 1 matrix models, focusing on understanding the nature of instanton effects alongside with exploring their relation to the

Instanton calculus and chiral one-point functions in supersymmetric gauge theories

We compute topological one-point functions of the chiral operator Tr φk in the maximally confining phase of U(N) supersymmetric gauge theory. These onepoint functions are polynomials in the

Topological Open Strings on Orbifolds

We use the remodeling approach to the B-model topological string in terms of recursion relations to study open string amplitudes at orbifold points. To this end, we clarify modular properties of the

Holomorphic anomaly and matrix models

The genus g free energies of matrix models can be promoted to modular invariant, non-holomorphic amplitudes which only depend on the geometry of the classical spectral curve. We show that these

The First Release COSMOS Optical and Near-IR Data and Catalog

Panchromatic number counts are constructed which confirm that both the geometry of the universe and the galaxy population are evolving and that both Stellar and galaxy colors and counts agree well with the expected values.

Open string amplitudes and large order behavior in topological string theory

We propose a formalism inspired by matrix models to compute open and closed topological string amplitudes in the B-model on toric Calabi-Yau manifolds. We find closed expressions for various open

Double scaling limits and twisted non-critical superstrings

We consider double-scaling limits of multicut solutions of certain one matrix models that are related to Calabi-Yau singularities of type A and the respective topological B model via the

Non-critical superstrings from four-dimensional gauge theory

We study large-N double-scaling limits of U(N) gauge theories in four dimensions. We focus on theories in a partially confining phase where an abelian subgroup Ĝ of the gauge group remains

Double scaling limits in gauge theories and matrix models

We show that = 1 gauge theories with an adjoint chiral multiplet admit a wide class of large-N double-scaling limits where N is taken to infinity in a way coordinated with a tuning of the bare

A Perturbative Window into Non-Perturbative Physics

We argue that for a large class of N=1 supersymmetric gauge theories the effective superpotential as a function of the glueball chiral superfield is exactly given by a summation of planar diagrams of

Topological Strings and Integrable Hierarchies

We consider the topological B-model on local Calabi-Yau geometries. We show how one can solve for the amplitudes by using -algebra symmetries which encode the symmetries of holomorphic
