The routine use of intraoperative cholangiography during cholecystectomy has been debated extensively. Intraoperative ultrasonography was a quick, efficient alternative in open cholecystectomy. A prospective controlled trial to evaluate its usefulness in laparoscopic cholecystectomy is reported.
