Bariatric surgery is the only solution for morbidly obese individuals who desire to lose weight and maintain it and have failed to do so by non-surgical means. As the incidence of morbid obesity rises, laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (LRYGBP) is increasingly performed.
