Damage to DNA may lead to carcinogenesis but is repaired through activation of pathways involving polymorphic enzymes, including human 8-oxoguanine glycosylase 1 (OGG1). The present study aimed to assess the role of genetic variants of DNA repair gene OGG1 Ser326Cys in susceptibility to gastric cancer in Kashmir valley.
