The lethal effects of the benzoylphenyl urea diflubenzuron were assessed under laboratory conditions against one day old fourth (IV) Dociostaurus maroccanus (Thunberg) (Orthoptera: Acrididae: Gomphocerinae) instars. Following exposure by ingestion of a single dose applied to short pieces of wheat seedlings, nymphs were monitored for two moults until the adult stage. The obtained acute response gave an LD50 of 1.47 μg a.i./nymph. The male and female nymphs response to diflubenzuron did not show… Expand

Comparative laboratory evaluation of the acute and chronic toxicology of diflubenzuron, hexaflumuron and teflubenzuron against II instar desert locust (Schistocerca gregaria) (Orthoptera: Acrididae)
TLDR
The timing of death was found to vary between the compounds ; most nymphs died during the first moult following treatment with either hexaflumuron or teflubenzuron, however, the majority of nmphs that died after exposure to diflubenzur did so after completing thefirst moult after treatment, but before the second. The effects of the duration of exposure on the toxicity of diflubenzuron, hexaflumuron and teflubenzuron to various stages of II instar Schistocerca gregaria
TLDR
Treatment over four days showed that the closer to the moult II instars were treated, the greater the mortality, indicating that locust pharate cuticle is predominantly synthesised late in the instar, suggesting that BPUs are highly toxic to locust nymphs but non-cumulative within their bodies. Expand
TOXICITY OF DIFLUBENZURON TO NYMPHS OF THE MIGRATORY GRASSHOPPER, MELANOPLUS SANGUINIPES (ORTHOPTERA: ACRIDIDAE)
TLDR
Tests showed that nymphs of the migratory grasshopper are very sensitive to diflubenzuron (Dimilin) when reared continuously on treated wheat seedlings or artificial diet and fresh lettuce, and dry weight determinations on Wheat seedlings indicated that nmphal feeding damage was insignificant if the plants had been sprayed with 10 ppm difbenzuron. Barrier spray treatment with diflubenzuron (ULV) against gregarious hopper bands of the Moroccan locust Dociostaurus maroccanus (Thunberg) (Orthoptera: Acrididae) in N.E. Morocco
Abstract Barrier treatments of diflubenzuron were applied in advance of mobile hopper bands of Dociostaurus maroccanus in grassland and cereal crops in Morocco. Bands entering wheat and barley cropsExpand
Diflubenzuron: Some aspects of its ovicidal and larvicidal mode of action and an evaluation of its practical possibilities
TLDR
The levels of cross-resistance to diflubenzuron as a larvicide are low and the compound can be used effectively in the field against populations that are highly resistant to conventional insecticides. Expand
A literature review and new observations on the use of diflubenzuron for control of locusts and grasshoppers throughout the world
TLDR
Diflubenzuron applications to rangeland did not seriously affect the populations of nontarget arthropods and supported previously published work showing it to be effective in broadcast treatments or alternating swaths and barriers. Expand
Entomopathogenic Fungi Associated with Natural Populations of the Moroccan Locust Dociostaurus maroccanus (Thunberg) (Orthoptera: Gomphocerinae) and Other Acridoidea in Spain
The entomopathogenic fungi Beauveria bassiana Vuill . and Metarhizium anisopliae (Metschnikoff) have been found in natural populations of the Moroccan locust Dociostaurus maroccanus (Thunberg) andExpand
Effect of diflubenzuron on the fecundity of Ceratitis capitata
TLDR
The aim of the present work was to determine when and how DFB reduces the fecundity of adults of the Mediterranean Fruit Fly, Ceratitis capitata, when treated by ingestion. Expand
Rearing and breeding of the Moroccan locust Dociostaurus maroccanus (Thunberg) (Orthop., Acrididae) under laboratory conditions
TLDR
The rearing method developed in this study will provide elements for studies of biology and physiology and it can be used in the design of new, environmentally sound pest management measures. Expand
Eficacia de los inhibidores de quitina diflubenzurón y flufenoxurón sobre larvas de "langosta mediterránea", Dociostaurus maroccanus (Thunb.), en pleno campo
TLDR
Diflubenzuron and flufenoxuron were tested again, on ultra-low volume, against the new hatched hopper of the Mediterranean locust, Dociostaurus maroccanus (Thunb.), on two pasture farms of Extremadura (Spain), located at "La Serena" and "Los Llanos de Cáceres". Expand
