In November 2006, a 70-year old man presented with a history of high fever, severe headache and arthralgia of knees, and small joints of his hands and feet of 3 days’ duration. On examination, the patient had mild swelling of the small joints of hands. There was no skin rash, bleeding into skin or mucosal membranes. His blood analysis showed a leucopenia (WBC 3.04 x 103 per μl) with a relative lymphocytosis (51%). The total platelet count was 115 x 103 per μl. The haemoglobin was 14.3 g / dl…
Co-infections with chikungunya and dengue viruses: A serological study in Karnataka State, India
TLDR
The blood samples were tested for the detection of IgM antibody against CHIKV, DENV and dual infection and the performance of the test was evaluated by Christian Medical College, Vellore in 2002.
Chikungunya Fever in Patients from Northeastern Mexico
TLDR
Chikungunya virus genotypes identified in patients from northeastern Mexico differed from those previously reported from other regions of Mexico.
Cytokines in Acute Chikungunya
TLDR
An intense cytokine milieu was evident in the early and immediate persistent symptomatic phase and in recovered subjects, and early persistent IgM and lower IgG to anti-CHKV and intense Th2 cytokine phenotype seem to be associated with delay in resolution of MSK symptoms.
Isolation and diagnosis of chikungunya virus causing outbreaks in Andhra Pradesh, India
TLDR
The re-emergence and persistence of CHIKV in Andhra Pradesh suggests the need for continuous monitoring and identification of the pathogen and thereby prevention of the spread of the virus to other parts of the country.
Co-infections with chikungunya and dengue viruses: A serological study in Karnataka State, India

3. Practical disk diffusion method for detection of inducible clindamycin resistance in Staphylococcusaureus and coagulase negative stAPHylococci.
Chikungunya as a Cause of Acute Febrile Illness in Southern Sri Lanka
TLDR
The findings suggest CHIKV is a prominent cause of non-specific acute febrile illness in southern Sri Lanka.
Evidence of Chikungunya virus seroprevalence in Myanmar among dengue-suspected patients and healthy volunteers in 2013, 2015, and 2018
TLDR
The findings in this study reveal the circulation of CHIKV in Myanmar’s Mandalay, Yangon, and Myeik regions before the 2019 Chikungunya virus outbreak.
Dengue virus serotype 4 and chikungunya virus coinfection in a traveller returning from Luanda, Angola, January 2014.
TLDR
A concurrent dengue virus serotype 4 and chikungunya virus infection was detected in a woman in her early 50s returning to Portugal from Luanda, Angola, in January 2014, the first time coinfection with both viruses has been detected there.
Seroprevalence of Chikungunya Infection in Pyretic Children Seeking Treatment in Alupe District Hospital, Busia County Kenya
TLDR
The prevalence of CHIKV in febrile children seeking treatment in Alupe District Hospital, Busia Kenya was determined to be 9.4% and 11.5% using ELISA and PRNT techniques, respectively.
Seroprevalence of Chikungunya in Southern Odisha

Rapid diagnosis of dengue viremia by reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction using 3'-noncoding region universal primers.
TLDR
A reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) method was developed as a rapid diagnostic test of dengue viremia and could be detected in a 6-hr assay by combining a silica method for RNA isolation and RT-PCRs.
Combined detection and genotyping of Chikungunya virus by a specific reverse transcription‐polymerase chain reaction
A reverse transcription‐polymerase chain reaction (RT‐PCR) was developed for the detection of Chikungunya virus infection. Based on the nonstructural protein 1 (nsP1) and glycoprotein E1 (E1) genes
Use of NS 3 consensus primers for the polymerase chain reaction amplification and sequencing of dengue viruses and other flaviviruses
TLDR
This RNA-PCR consensus primer strategy coupled with DNA sequencing represents a valuable tool for the molecular diagnosis and epidemiology of dengue and other flaviviral infections.
