The luminescence yield under alpha -bombardment has a well-defined limiting value, reached at Tl concentrations of 0.1%. Luminescence yield under gamma bombardment has a maximum in the Tl concentration range 0.01 to 0.03%. The dependence of the ratio alpha / gamma at room temperature tends to a constant value of approximately 0.55. The limiting value of the ratio is essentially attained at a Tl concentration of approximately 0.1%. (D.E.B.)
