Abstract The larvae of the mangrove sesarmid crab Neosarmatium indicum (A. Milne-Edwards, 1868), were reared in the laboratory. Five zoeal stages and one megalopa are described in detail and illustrated. Morphologically, the first zoea of N. indicum is similar to those of other species of Neosarmatium, as well as species of the family Sesarmidae, in that they share most of the following characters: no lateral carapace spines, five setae on the endopod of the maxilla, and four terminal setae on… Expand
COMPLETE LARVAL DEVELOPMENT OF TWO SPECIES OF THE ASIAN CRAB GENUS PSEUDOSESARMA (BRACHYURA: THORACOTREMATA: SESARMIDAE)
TLDR
The previously unknown larval stages of both species of Pseudosesarma bocourti and P. moeschii are morphologically almost identical and thus described and illustrated as one. Expand
Morphology of the first zoeal stages of eleven Sesarmidae (Crustacea, Brachyura, Thoracotremata) from the Indo-West Pacific, with a summary of familial larval characters
TLDR
It is demonstrated that a recurrent combination of reliable larval characters distinguishes zoeae and megalopae of the examined sesarmids from the rest of the Grapsoidea, which appears to be consistent with recent studies that redefine the Sesarmidae. Expand
Morphological Study in Zoeal Stages of Mud Crabs: Scylla olivacea (Herbst, 1796)
TLDR
The larva of mud crab, Scylla olivacea consisted of five zoeal stages including antennule, antenna, maxilliped and telson and the zoeal morphology was compared with those of Scylla serrata. Expand
Effects of salinity and tempera~ure on the larval development of a sesarmid crab Neosarmatium trispinosum Davie (Crustacea: Brachyura: Sesarmidae) from mangrove swamp in Okinawa Island, Japan
The larval development of the semiterrestrial sesarmid mangrove crab Neosarmarium trispinosum was studied under laboratory conditions at salinities 0-35%o and constant temperatures of 20-30°C. TheExpand
The complete larval development of Armases benedicti (Rathbun) (Decapoda, Sesarmidae), from the Amazon region, reared in the laboratory
TLDR
Outras comparacoes morfologicas com trabalhos anteriores relacionados a larvas do genero Armases Abele, 1992 sao brevemente discutidas. Expand
