The 3-hydroxypropionate cycle is a bicyclic autotrophic CO(2) fixation pathway in the phototrophic Chloroflexus aurantiacus (Bacteria), and a similar pathway is operating in autotrophic members of the Sulfolobaceae (Archaea).
