Atira-class asteroids have aphelia greater than 0.718 au and smaller than 0.983 au. It has been found that the orbits of many of them remain relatively stable for at least 1 Myr, but it is unclear what can make them so stable when they cross the orbit of Venus and some may reach, in heliocentric terms, as far as Earth's perihelion and as close as inside Mercury's perihelion. The analysis of their orbits shows that many of them have values of the argument of perihelion close to 0 or 180 degrees… Expand

Understanding the evolution of Atira-class asteroid 2019 AQ3, a major step towards the future discovery of the Vatira population
Orbiting the Sun at an average distance of 0.59 au and with the shortest aphelion of any known minor body, at 0.77 au, the Atira-class asteroid 2019 AQ3 may be an orbital outlier or perhaps anExpand
On the orbital evolution of 2020 AV2, the first asteroid ever observed to go around the Sun inside the orbit of Venus
The innermost section of the Solar system has not been extensively studied because minor bodies moving inside Earth's orbit tend to spend most of their sidereal orbital periods at very low solarExpand
The Lidov-Kozai Oscillation and Hugo von Zeipel
The so-called Lidov-Kozai oscillation is very well known and applied to various problems in solar system dynamics. This mechanism makes the orbital inclination and eccentricity of the perturbed bodyExpand

Kozai resonance in extrasolar systems
Aims. We study the possibility that extrasolar two-planet systems, similar to the ones that are observed, can be in a stable Kozai-resonant state, assuming a mutual inclination of the orbital planesExpand
Dynamics of planet-crossing asteroids: Classes of orbital behavior: Project SPACEGUARD
Abstract We present the first results of the SPACEGUARD numerical integration of 410 planet-crossing asteroids spanning 200,000 years. All the planets except Mercury and Pluto are taken into account.Expand
Infrequent visitors of the Kozai kind: the dynamical lives of 2012 FC71, 2014 EK24, 2014 QD364, and 2014 UR
Context. Asteroids with semi-major axes very close to that of a host planet can avoid node crossings when their nodal points are at perihelion and at aphelion. This layout protects the asteroids fromExpand
On the dynamical evolution of 2002 VE68
The minor planet 2002 VE68 was identified as a quasi-satellite of Venus shortly after its discovery. At that time its data-arc span was only 24 d; now it is 2947 d. Here we revisit the topic of theExpand
The orbital distribution of Near-Earth Objects inside Earth's orbit
Canada’s Near-Earth Object Surveillance Satellite (NEOSSat), set to launch in early 2012, will search for and track Near-Earth Objects (NEOs), tuning its search to best detect objects with a < 1.0Expand
