This paper deals primarily with the history of Klang both the district and the town from the early 1870s to the 1930s. But history is not the main focus. References are made to historical sources which are useful in helping to reconstruct the history of Klang from the time it functioned as the principal port of the State of Selangor to the period when 'greater' Klang and its surrounding territories became a major agricultural centre.
