Abstract The interaction of cetyl sulfate and cetrimonium (cetyltrimethylammonium) ions with dipalmitoyl lecithin and dipalmitoyl glycerol monolayers spread at the air/water interface was followed by the variation of the surface pressure and surface potential. The kinetics and the final equilibrium varied with the nature of the injected surfactant.
