Upregulation of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) is key to oxidant-induced disruption of intestinal (Caco-2) monolayer barrier, and EGF protects against this disruption by stabilizing the cytoskeleton. PLC-gamma appears to be essential for monolayer integrity.
