Karyotype analysis in three species of the genus Chirostoma (Atheriniformes: Atherinidae)

Abstract

Karyotype analyses of three Chirostoma species, C. estor, C. patzcuaro, and C. jordani from Mexico, are presented. C. estor and C. jordani have both a diploid number of 2N = 48 and a fundamental number of NF = 68, but different karyotype formulae.
