Crystallizing and melting of polymers as a function of sample history is investigated by means of a differential thermal analytic method developed for quantitative evaluation. Crystallization and the subsequent melting of the same polymer occur at temperatures differing by 12 to 18°C. The melt temperature and the time of keeping the sample in the molten state, the cooling rate and the course of cooling have a reproducible effect on the subsequent melting.
