We analyze the quantum dynamics of two electromagnetic oscillators coupled in series to a voltage-biased Josephson junction. When the applied voltage leads to a Josephson frequency across the junction which matches the sum of the two mode frequencies, tunneling Cooper pairs excite photons in both modes simultaneously leading to far-from-equilibrium states. These states display highly nonclassical features including strong antibunching, violation of Cauchy-Schwartz inequalities, and number…

Time‐resolved statistics of photon pairs in two‐cavity Josephson photonics
We analyze the creation and emission of pairs of highly nonclassical microwave photons in a setup where a voltage-biased Josephson junction is connected in series to two electromagnetic oscillators.
Josephson photonics : microwave generation & amplification in the quantum regime
The recent field of Josephson photonics is about the interplay between circuit quantum electrodynamic and dynamical Coulomb blockade. It explains and studies the ability of a Cooper pair to
Josephson photonics: Statistics of photons emitted by inelastic Cooper pair tunneling
This thesis contributes to the emerging field of Josephson photonics through the study of correlations between microwave photons emitted by inelastic Cooper pair tunneling across a voltage-biased
Generating Two Continuous Entangled Microwave Beams Using a dc-Biased Josephson Junction
We show experimentally that a dc-biased Josephson junction in series with two microwave resonators emits entangled beams of microwaves leaking out of the resonators. In the absence of a stationary
Quantum thermodynamics with a Josephson-photonics setup
Josephson-photonics devices have emerged in the last years as versatile platforms to study light-charge interactions far from equilibrium and to create nonclassical radiation. Their potential to
Generating entangled quantum microwaves in a Josephson-photonics device
When connecting a voltage-biased Josephson junction in series to several microwave cavities, a Cooper-pair current across the junction gives rise to a continuous emission of strongly correlated
Theory of double Cooper-pair tunneling and light emission mediated by a resonator
Photon emission by tunneling electrons can be encouraged by locating a resonator close to the tunnel junction and applying an appropriate voltage-bias. However, studies of normal metals show that the
Statistics of radiation due to nondegenerate Josephson parametric down-conversion
In a process called parametric down-conversion, a dc-biased Josephson junction coupled to two microwave resonators emits photon pairs when the Josephson frequency matches the sum of the two resonance
Energetics of an rf SQUID Coupled to Two Thermal Reservoirs
In the framework of the theory of quantum dissipative systems, energetics of a Josephson tunnel junction connecting a superconducting loop pierced by an external magnetic flux and coupled to two independent thermal reservoirs are studied.
Dispersive thermometry with a Josephson junction coupled to a resonator
We have embedded a small Josephson junction in a microwave resonator that allows simultaneous dc biasing and dispersive readout. Thermal fluctuations drive the junction into phase diffusion and
