We study junctions between superconductors mediated by the edge states of a quantum-spin-Hall insulator. We show that such junctions exhibit a fractional Josephson effect, in which the current phase relation has a $4\ensuremath{\pi}$ rather than a $2\ensuremath{\pi}$ periodicity. This effect is a consequence of the conservation of fermion parity---the number of electron $\text{mod}\text{ }2$---in a superconducting junction and is closely related to the ${Z}_{2}$ topological structure of the… Expand

We theoretically study a Josephson junction formed by two finite-size $s$-wave SCs on a topological insulator under a magnetic field. At certain conditions, the junction hosts the chiral MajoranaExpand
Multiple Andreev reflections ins-wave superconductor–quantum dot–topological superconductor tunnel junctions and Majorana bound states
We calculate the current as a function of applied voltage in non-topological s-wave superconductor-quantum dot-topological superconductor tunnel junction. We consider the type of TS which hosts twoExpand

We study the transport properties of a superconductor-quantum spin Hall insulator-superconductor Josephson junction both in the absence and in the presence of a DC bias voltage. As the system isExpand
Gapless Andreev bound states in the quantum spin Hall insulator HgTe.
Experimental evidence for topological superconductivity induced in a HgTe quantum well, a 2D topological insulator that exhibits the quantum spin Hall (QSH) effect is reported. Expand

We study Josephson junctions based on second-order topological superconductors (SOTSs) which can be realized in quantum spin Hall insulators with large inverted gap in proximity to unconventionalExpand
Fractionalizing Majorana fermions: non-abelian statistics on the edges of abelian quantum Hall states
• Physics

We study the non-abelian statistics characterizing systems where counter-propagating gapless modes on the edges of fractional quantum Hall states are gapped by proximity-coupling to superconductorsExpand

I am writing with a simple plea to balance the voluminous articles about treatment in your journal with a modicum of information about nature and caring effects to rekindle the perception of physicians as healers, not only treaters, who relish the gifts of nature, and foster the humanistic aspect of medicine that has thrived for millennia.
