Beat-to-beat variations in heart period provide information on cardiovascular control and are closely linked to variations in arterial pressure and respiration. Joint symbolic analysis of heart period, systolic arterial pressure and respiration allows for a simple description of their shared short-term dynamics that are governed by cardiac baroreflex control and cardiorespiratory coupling. In this review, we discuss methodology and research applications. Studies suggest that analysis of joint…

Dynamical Pattern Representation of Cardiovascular Couplings Evoked by Head-up Tilt Test
TLDR
Signs are analysed that were produced by the cardiovascular system when a healthy human underwent a provocation test using the head-up tilt (HUT) protocol and Shannon entropy shows a strong dependence on the method that was used in signal pre-processing.

TLDR
The proposed technique detects and quantifies robustly QPC and is able to track the coupling between respiration and various HRV components during ANS changes and physiological regulation of HRV in cardiovascular diseases.
