OBJECTIVE To test the hypothesis that joint hyperlaxity can play some role in the pathogenesis of pain in primary fibromyalgia. METHODS A total of 66 women with fibromyalgia (according to the 1990 American College of Rheumatology criteria) and 70 women with other rheumatic diseases were examined for joint laxity based on 5 criteria (The Non-Dominant Spanish modification).
