We present a framework for petrophysically and geologically guided inversion to perform multi-physics joint inversions. Petrophysical and geological information is included in a multi-dimensional Gaussian mixture model that regularizes the inverse problem. The inverse problem we construct consists of a suite of three cyclic optimizations over the geophysical, petrophysical and geological information. The two additional problems over the petrophysical and geological data are used as a coupling… Expand

Constrained optimization framework for joint inversion of geophysical data sets
Many experimental techniques in geophysics advance the understanding of Earth processes by estimating and interpreting Earth structure (e.g. velocity and/or density structure). Different types ofExpand
Joint inversion of multiple geophysical data using guided fuzzy c-means clustering
ABSTRACTJoint inversion of multiple geophysical data has become an active area of research due to its potential to greatly enhance the fidelity of inverted models. Many open questions and challengesExpand
Joint inversion of seismic traveltimes and gravity data on unstructured grids with application to mineral exploration
Seismic methods continue to receive interest for use in mineral exploration due to the much higher resolution potential of seismic data compared to the techniques traditionally used, namely, gravity,Expand
Multidomain petrophysically constrained inversion and geology differentiation using guided fuzzy c-means clustering
ABSTRACTGeophysical inversion methods are used as part of an interpretation process that seeks to differentiate geologic units. To improve the reliability of geologic differentiation based onExpand
Multiple-domain, simultaneous joint inversion of geophysical data with application to subsalt imaging
The simultaneous joint inversion objective function is shown, which allows users to link different inversion domains, like seismic with gravity or seismic with magnetotellurics, and can be extended to any number of domains and does not require that they be sampled on the same grid. Expand
Bayesian Gaussian Mixture Linear Inversion for Geophysical Inverse Problems
A Bayesian linear inversion methodology based on Gaussian mixture models and its application to geophysical inverse problems are presented in this paper. The proposed inverse method is based on aExpand
Probabilistic petrophysical-properties estimation integrating statistical rock physics with seismic inversion
A joint estimation of petrophysical properties is proposed that combines statistical rock physics and Bayesian seismic inversion. Because elastic attributes are correlated with petrophysicalExpand
Geology differentiation: A new frontier in quantitative geophysical interpretation in mineral exploration
Abstract Geophysics aims to image subsurface geologic structure and identify different geologic units. While the former has dominated the interpretation of applied geophysical data, the latter hasExpand
SimPEG: An open source framework for simulation and gradient based parameter estimation in geophysical applications
The goal of this paper is to propose a framework that supports many different types of geophysical forward simulations and deterministic inverse problems, and provide an open source implementation of this framework in Python called SimPEG (Simulation and Parameter Estimation in Geophysics, Expand
Joint inversion of marine magnetotelluric and gravity data incorporating seismic constraints
Breakup of the North Atlantic during the early tertiary was accompanied by widespread and massive magmatism, resulting in the coverage of large areas of the North Atlantic with flood basalts. TheseExpand
