This short note presents investigations on two sets of coefficients for gaseous jet loads at an inclined flat plate. These load coefficients are derived at the collisionless flow limit. The plate surface can be diffusive or specularly reflective. The coefficients include total pressure, friction, heat flux, moment, and the distances from the force to the plate centers. Direct simulation Monte Carlo simulations are performed to obtain the numerical coefficient results. When the Knudsen (Kn…

The interaction of parallel and inclined planar rarefied sonic plumes—From free molecular to continuum regime
The interaction between rarefied vapor plumes can cause shocks and consequently distinct peaks in mass flux which produce undesirable non-uniformities. To evaluate the impact of shock formation, we

Detailed flowfield and surface properties for high Knudsen number planar jet impingement at an inclined flat plate
This paper presents two sets of analytical exact solutions for collisionless gas flows from a planar exit, impinging at an inclined flat plate. These analytical results are obtained by using
Rarefication effects on jet impingement loads
Rarefication effects on jet impingement loads are studied by comparing recent new formulas at the collisionless flow limit and numerical simulations. The jet exit size is finite, and can be either
The impingement of underexpanded, axisymmetric jets on perpendicular and inclined flat plates
This paper reports on an extensive experimental study of the flows due to under-expanded axisymmetric jets impinging on flat plates. The range of plate locations extends to a point where the jet is
Experimental Study of Underexpanded Supersonic Jet Impingement on an Inclined Flat Plate
Flowfields of the M2.2 jet impinging on an inclined flat plate at various plate angles, nozzle-plate distances, and pressure ratios are experimentally investigated using pressure-sensitive paints and
Simulation of Compressible Micro-Scale Jet Impingement Heat Transfer
A computational study is presented of the heat transfer performance of a micro-scale, axisymmetric, confined jet impinging on a flat surface with an embedded uniform heat flux disk. The jet flow
The impact force acting on a flat plate exposed normally to a rarefied plasma plume issuing from an annular or circular nozzle
With the indirect thrust measurement of electric thrusters working at a low vacuum chamber pressure as the research background, this paper analyses the impact force acting on a flat plate exposed
Studies on Impingement Effects of Low Density Jets on Surfaces — Determination of Shear Stress and Normal Pressure
This paper presents the results of the Laser Reflection Method (LRM) for the determination of shear stress due to impingement of low‐density free jets on flat plate. For thin oil film moving under
DSMC Simulation of Parallel, Oblique and Normal Free Jet Impingements on a Flat Plate
In the present paper, jet impingements of gas expanded through an orifice into a vacuum were numerically simulated by using the direct simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) method. Three types of jet
