The plant hormone jasmonate (JA) fulfils essential roles in plant defense and development. While most of our current understanding of the JA pathway comes from the dicotyledonous model plant Arabidopsis thaliana, new studies in monocotyledonous plants are providing additional insights into this important hormone signaling pathway.
