This paper comments on Neusner's 'Defining Scarce Resources: Real Estate or Intellect?' written in response to my paper assessing Neusner's The Economics of the Mishnah. Neusner argues the post-Mishnaic writings of Judaism redefine 'wealth from real estate to Torah'. This paper draws parallels from the Christian scriptures and concurs with Neusner that the concept of Torah as wealth is not conducive to economic growth and does not square with modern economic analysis.
