A total of 6249 Ixodes dammini ticks was collected from 384 of 625 small- and medium-sized mammals trapped in 4 ecological communities in Connecticut during 1979. There were no signficant differences in numbers of immature I. dammini on Peromyscus leucopus among communities. A statistical comparison of I. dammini on Sciurus carolinensis , an important host in this study, was not possible because of the extensive range of these squirrels over more than 1 community.
