The main challenge of massive machine-type communications (mMTC) is the joint activity and signal detection of devices. The mMTC scenario with many devices transmitting data intermittently at low data rates and via very short packets enables its modelling as a sparse signal processing problem. In this work, we consider a grant-free system and propose a detection and decoding scheme that jointly detects activity and signals of devices. The proposed scheme consists of a list detection technique… Expand

Adaptive Activity-Aware Iterative Detection for Massive Machine-Type Communications
TLDR
An adaptive decision feedback detector along with an iterative detection and decoding scheme based on low-density parity-check (LDPC) is devised for signal detection in mMTC. Expand
Iterative Detection and Decoding Algorithms for MIMO Systems in Block-Fading Channels Using LDPC Codes
TLDR
A novel strategy to improve the bit error rate (BER) performance of IDD schemes is devised, which takes into account the soft a posteriori output of the decoder in a block-fading channel when root-check LDPC codes are used. Expand
Distributed Iterative Detection With Reduced Message Passing for Networked MIMO Cellular Systems
TLDR
This paper considers base station cooperation (BSC) strategies for the uplink of a multiuser multicell high-frequency reuse scenario where distributed iterative detection schemes with soft/hard interference cancelation (IC) algorithms are studied and proposes a reduced message passing (RMP) technique. Expand
Design of LDPC Codes Based on Multipath EMD Strategies for Progressive Edge Growth
TLDR
The error floor performance of the short block length codes is improved by the use of a novel candidate selection metric in code graph construction, and an extended class of the diversity-achieving codes on the challenging block fading channel is proposed and considered with the multipath EMD design. Iterative (turbo) soft interference cancellation and decoding for coded CDMA
TLDR
Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed low complexity iterative receivers structure for interference suppression and decoding offers significant performance gain over the traditional noniterative receiver structure. Expand
Iterative Detection and Decoding for Large-Scale Multiple-Antenna Systems With 1-Bit ADCs
TLDR
A linear low-resolution-aware minimum mean square error detector for soft multiuser interference mitigation and a quasi-uniform quantizer with scaling factors is devised to lower the error floor of low-density parity-check codes. Expand
Transmit Processing Techniques Based on Switched Interleaving and Limited Feedback for Interference Mitigation in Multiantenna MC-CDMA Systems
TLDR
Transceiver structures with switched interleaving, linear precoding, and detectors for both uplink and downlink using limited-feedback techniques are developed and simulation results show that the performance of the proposed techniques is significantly better than prior art. Expand
Switched Interleaving Techniques with Limited Feedback for Interference Mitigation in DS-CDMA Systems
TLDR
Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm achieves significantly better performance than the conventional DS-CDMA (C- CDMA) systems and the existing chip-interleaving, linear precoding and adaptive spreading techniques. Expand
Sparsity-Aware Ordered Successive Interference Cancellation for Massive Machine-Type Communications
TLDR
A novel sparsity-aware ordered SIC scheme that finds the optimal detection order based on the activity probabilities and channel gains of devices is proposed and verified that the proposed scheme greatly improves the performance of SA-SIC. Expand
