We study the gauge/gravity dual of a finite temperature field theory at finite isospin chemical potential by considering a probe of two coincident D7-branes embedded in the AdS-Schwarzschild black hole background. The isospin chemical potential is obtained by giving a vacuum expectation value to the time component of the non-Abelian gauge field on the brane. The fluctuations of the non-Abelian gauge field on the brane are dual to the SU(2) flavor current in the field theory. For the embedding…

Finite Baryon and Isospin Chemical Potential in AdS/CFT with Flavor

We investigate the thermodynamics of a thermal field theory in presence of both a baryon and an isospin chemical potential. For this we consider a probe of several D7-branes embedded in the

Criticality, scaling and chiral symmetry breaking in external magnetic field

We consider a D7-brane probe of AdS5 × S5 in the presence of pure gauge B-field. The dual gauge theory is flavored Yang-Mills theory in external magnetic field. We explore the dependence of the

Mesons in marginally deformed AdS/CFT

We study the embedding of spacetime filling D7-branes in β-deformed backgrounds which, according to the AdS/CFT dictionary, corresponds to flavoring β-deformed = 4 super Yang-Mills. We consider

A bstractWe study Abelian Maxwell-Chern-Simons theory in three-dimensional AdS black hole backgrounds for both integer and non-integer Chern-Simons coupling. Such theories can be derived from various

Mesons in gauge/gravity duals

Abstract. We review recent progress in studying mesons within gauge/gravity duality, in the context of adding flavour degrees of freedom to generalizations of the AdS/CFT correspondence. Our main

Holographic spectral functions and diffusion constants for fundamental matter

The holographic dual of large-Nc super-Yang-Mills coupled to a small number of flavours of fundamental matter, Nf << Nc, is described by Nf probe D7-branes in the gravitational background of Nc black

In-Medium Effects in the Holographic Quark-Gluon Plasma

We use the gauge/gravity duality to investigate various properties of strongly coupled gauge theories, which we interpret as models for the quark-gluon plasma (QGP). In particular, we use variants of

Holographic phase transitions at finite chemical potential

Recent Holographic studies have shown that N=4 super Yang-Mills theory coupled to fundamental matter with finite chemical potential undergoes a first order phase transition. In this paper, we study

In this work I explore theoretical and phenomenological implications of chemical potentials and charge densities inside a strongly coupled thermal plasma, using the gauge/gravity correspondence.

Holographic QCD with isospin chemical potential

We consider configurations of D4?D8?8 branes which correspond to large N QCD with non-vanishing temperature and chemical potential for baryon number and isospin. We study the holographic dual of this

Minkowski-space correlators in AdS/CFT correspondence: recipe and applications

We formulate a prescription for computing Minkowski-space correlators from AdS/CFT correspondence. This prescription is shown to give the correct retarded propagators at zero temperature in four

Scalar effective potential for D7 brane probes which break chiral symmetry

We consider D7 brane probes embedded in deformed AdS5 × S5 supergravity backgrounds which are non-supersymmetric in the interior. In the context of the generalised AdS/CFT correspondence, these

We compute the meson spectrum of an = 2 super Yang-Mills theory with fundamental matter from its dual string theory on AdS5 × S5 with a D7-brane probe [1]. For scalar and vector mesons with arbitrary

Strong coupling effective Higgs potential and a first order thermal phase transition from AdS/CFT duality

We use anti–de Sitter/conformal field theory duality to study the thermodynamics of a strongly coupled [script N]=2 supersymmetric large Nc SU(Nc) gauge theory with Nf=2 fundamental hypermultiplets.

Holographic chiral phase transition with chemical potential

We discuss the Sakai-Sugimoto model at finite temperature and finite chemical potential. It is a holographic model of large Nc QCD with Nf massless quarks based on a D4/D8- brane system. The near

We use AdS/CFT duality to study the large Nc limit of the meson spectrum on the Higgs branch of a strongly coupled, = 2 supersymmetric SU(Nc) gauge theory with Nf = 2 fundamental hypermultiplets. In

We present a proposal for the description of the Higgs branch of four-dimensional N=2 super- symmetric Yang-Mills theories in the context of the AdS/CFT correspondence. We focus on a finite Sp(N) N=2
