Isoprostanes are prostaglandin-like compounds which are formed by free radical catalysed peroxidation of arachidonic acid esterified in membrane phospholipids. They are emerging as a new class of sensitive, specific and reliable markers of in vivo lipid peroxidation and oxidative damage.
