Exposure of purified transmissible gastroenteritis virus, a porcine coronavirus, to non-ionic detergents resulted in the removal of the surface projections and greater than 98% of the virus lipid. Virus RNA was associated with a subviral particle which had a sedimentation coefficient of 650S, compared with 495S for the intact virion, and which banded in Cs2SO4 gradients at 1-295 g/ml. Negatively stained preparations of subviral particles were shown by electron microscopy to contain spherical…

The Polypeptides of Haemagglutinating Encephalomyelitis Virus and Isolated Subviral particles
Summary Haemagglutinating encephalomyelitis virus (HEV), a member of the coronavirus group, was adapted for growth in adult pig thyroid cell cultures and purified by ammonium sulphate precipitation
Structural polypeptides of the enteropathogenic bovine coronavirus strain LY-138
TLDR
The bovine coronavirus strain LY-138 was purified by differential as well as velocity and isopycnic centrifugation in sucrose or CsCl gradients by using SDS-solubilized virions in polyacrylamide gels.
Critical epitopes in transmissible gastroenteritis virus neutralization
TLDR
Six different epitopes critical in TGE virus neutralization were found, all of which were conformational based on their immunogenicity and antigenicity and were present in 11 viral isolated with different geographical locations, years of isolation, and passage numbers, suggesting that the critical epitopes were highly conserved.
Polypeptides of the surface projections and the ribonucleoprotein of avian infectious bronchitis virus
TLDR
There are apparently two types of surface projections on the virus particle, as the proportion of VP6 in such preparations was greatly reduced, implying that VP6 is the structural polypeptide of the ribonucleoprotein.
Antigenic structure of transmissible gastroenteritis virus. I. Properties of monoclonal antibodies directed against virion proteins.
TLDR
Immunofluorescence patterns obtained with MAbs directed against either the envelope glycoproteins or the nucleocapsid revealed distinctly different distributions of these antigens within the cells, which confirmed their close antigenic relationship.
Structural polypeptides of coronavirus IBV.

    The Journal of general virology
  • 1981
TLDR
Growth of IBV in chorioallantoic membrane cells labelled with 35S-methionine indicated that most of these polypeptides, and additional ones, some of which were glycosylated, were host components.
Characterization and translation of transmissible gastroenteritis virus mRNAs
TLDR
Three protein species were identified in purified transmissible gastroenteritis virus particles (strain Purdue) and were thought to represent constituents of the peplomer, the envelope, and the nucleocapsid.
The polypeptides of infectious bronchitis virus (IBV-41 strain).
The Massachusetts strain of avian infectious bronchitis virus was purified from embryonated hens' eggs. Four major species of apparent mol. wt. 90 000, 52 000, 29 000 and 26 000 were resolved by
The polypeptide structure of canine coronavirus and its relationship to porcine transmissible gastroenteritis virus.
TLDR
Comparison of the structural polypeptides of CCV and porcine transmissible gastroenteritis virus (TGEV) by co-electrophoresis demonstrated that TGEV polypePTides corresponded closely, but not identically, with gp204, p50 and gp32 ofCCV and confirmed that gp22 was a major structural component only in the canine virus.

The coronavirus genome has been shown to comprise single-stranded RNA, and a wide variation in the size of RNA molecules extracted from avian infectious bronchitis virus by a phenol–sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) method is found.

TLDR
Biophysical studies of the virus system of vesicular stomatitis passaged in eggs showed that the major part of the infectivity was associated with a component of sedimentation coefficient 625S, which is probably a non-infective product of the disintegration of the 625S component.

TLDR
Labeled virions of Rous sarcoma virus were disrupted with detergent and analyzed on equilibrium sucrose density gradients, and RNA-dependent and DNA-dependent DNA polymerase activities were also found in RSV-converted chicken cells.
